THE SNOW

by Miriam Compton

Through the snow now falling lightly
Forms and shapes I used to know
Grow a little, alter slightly
Through the snow.

Drifting snowflakes now bestow
Elfin caps on flowers, and whitely
Ghost the trees with eerie glow.

Cleansed, the world seems far more sightly.
Places where we used to go
Once so saddening, now shine brightly
Through the snow.
